Face Oil Review Series – Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil AntiOxidant+

Rosehip Oil

I’ve wanted to try Trilogy Rosehip Oil for almost a year since I saw it at the Pegasus Beauty Showcase. Then just recently out of the blue, I got the opportunity to review not one but 3 face oils. Reviews on the other two (Manuka Doctor and Decleor will follow but I thought that rather than doing one big comparison post I would do a series of reviews. Who knows I might review more than 3 if other products intrigue me!

So the first thing I was expecting from the Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil AntiOxidant+ was that it would smell of roses! I know, I’m an idiot. this is rosehip and so there is no reason for it to smell of flowers. Still, I discovered that it doesn’t smell of anything at all. Fair enough, that’s probably a plus point for me, as it won’t clash with the scent I wear and for others that are allergic to scents it will be a plus too!

Then that thing that everyone I mention face oil to says straight away – ” My skin is already oily so I don’t want to add oil.” Well, of course, you are entitled to your opinion but I think that if you cleanse properly and then add good oil then this won’t make you break out, or make your make-up slide off your face. Still, I’m not a beautician so I’m not qualified to guarantee that – it’s just my opinion.

Anyway, I found the oil to be really light, it sank into my combination skin really quickly and I needed more than the recommended one or two drops to cover my face and neck. I used it under my usual daytime moisturiser (SkinPep Collagen Renew Day Cream currently) and again at night under my night cream (currently Karin Herzog Vita-A-Kombi 1 Day & Night Face Cream.)

They say:

“A powerful facial oil for healthier, younger-looking skin. Trilogy’s unique Rosapene formulation provides intense hydration plus daily antioxidant protection. Combining nourishing essential fatty acids with super antioxidants, lycopene and phytosterol, this certified organic beauty oil is deeply moisturising while helping to protect against environmental free radical damage. Independent clinical studies show it improves brightening and skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, elasticity and firmness.”

As I said this hasn’t caused my skin to be oily or made me break out at all. It’s definitely made my skin feel tauter and lifted and I like the protecting effect that it promises particularly as I live in London. I’ve also lost a little bit of weight recently and at my age that can have a bad effect on the facial contours. Hopefully, this product helps a little with that too.

So, I’ve just started trialling the second facial oil in the series so do look out for more thoughts from me soon. What’s your experience with facial oils? Have you tried the cleansing oils like DHC pore cleansing oil? Let me know what you think in the comments box below!
