You know that sinking feeling when you run out of a staple beauty product that you use every day and then even worse you realise that you won’t be able to replace it before you next need to use it? Yes that!
I’ve been using my RMK Ingenious waterproof pencil eyeliner everyday for months. It’s the perfect colour grey which I use as I find that black is a little harsh for my complexion. But this was the day that it finally ran out. RMK is only stocked in Selfridges or on-line and so there was no way that I could get another one on a work day so I set off to my local House of Fraser store to find a replacement.
I really can’t be bothered with eye pencils that need sharpening. They always break and most of the product gets wasted. So I was looking for a twist up pencil in grey with the hope that I could find a waterproof one that looked as sleek and sexy as the RMK one.
After checking a good few top brands I came to one of my favourite brands Dior. I was so pleased that they managed to find me the perfect DIOR Diorshow Liner – Waterproof Long-Lasting Backstage Eyeliner.
Now I have to tell you that the story didn’t have a fairytale ending – well not for you my dear readers because I’ve been told that this product is being replaced by another one – the Dior Diorshow Pro Liner Waterproof. So my review isn’t the most helpful for you although I think there will still be some stock available for a while. The new product isn’t dissimilar but the grey is lighter and it doesn’t come in gorgeous silver casing.
Anyway I should say that I’ve tried out my beautiful purchase today to see if it was as amazing to use as to look at and I’m really pleased to say that it is. It goes on smoothly close to my lashes without dragging but as a pencil it’s more controllable than a liquid liner. It’s waterproof and lasted all day even though I spent the full day at work today followed by attending a launch event and being away from home for over 12 hours without having to redo it.

I’ve tried every darned liner on the market, I really have, but some years ago, I tried this one in brown and can honestly say it’s the best I’ve bought. I now have it in five different colours. It knocks spots off any other liner. I’m gutted to hear it’s being replaced. Why, oh why, do these companies change something that simply ain’t broke? I will, no doubt, try the new one and can only hope it will be at least as good. Sigh… perhaps I should stock up.
