Why do we all still love to get Naked?

I’m hoping you clicked through on this because you wanted to hear my thoughts on the Urban Decay Naked palettes and what it is about them that keeps us coming back for more. If you were looking for something akin to naturism then apologies for bringing you here on false pretences!

So this week saw the launch of the Naked Heat Palette from Urban Decay and I’ve been watching reactions from the media, friends and fellow bloggers and it’s fair to say that it’s got a lot of people talking. There’s been so much hype that it’s got me thinking what it is that makes people so excited for the new launch, and what it is about the brand and concept that makes people buy into it over and over. Here’s what I’ve come up with:

• It’s a quality product
• It’s aspirational without being unattainable
• It’s got an edge but has something for everyone
• Collectors just have to have them all
• You get that upgrade fever
• You can never have too many pallettes
• FOMO

What do you think? Is there a particular reason you bought the palette, or really want it or are you still to be convinced?

The first Naked palette was all about the nude look and to be honest we’ve not really moved away from those nude shade being the favourites in any palette we own but then the nude shades shifted in subsequent palettes to being neutrals rather than nudes – bringing in pink and smoky shades as each palette was launched. With this new palette it’s really a stretch to say they are nude or neutral overall although some of the shades fit that brief and I think that what we’re really seeing here is earthy and natural tones such as the colours of clay and spice and fiery sunset.

Always cynical about over hyped products I kept calm and non-committal on this one until its surprise arrival at my door and then I had to admit to myself just how excited I was to have this in my collection. I couldn’t wait to get stuck into the fabulous colour combinations that I love like red and gold shades blended for a night time look. So, I make no apology for sharing my photos and details of this fabulous palette although you may have seen them hundreds of times since it was first available for a brief period about a month back.

There are  12 new shades covering amber, warm brown, burnt orange and deep red. There are matte and glimmering shades that you can use for day the and night time looks. The formula is on point with its Pigment Infusion System that gives great colour pay off, a velvet texture and staying power.
