Empties June – August 2017

Still playing catch up with my empties posts so I’ve decided to include everything from June through to August as I know these posts are popular and I know why! Of all the products that I have to choose from, these are the ones that I stick with right to the end.

Skincare

Pixi by Petra2

Pixi Glow Tonic is an exfoliating toner that’s loved by almost everyone who’s tried it. Its made with 5% Glycolic Acid as well as aloe vera and ginseng. You can definitely expect to see fresh glowing skin and I used up every last drop. There are more details here

Another toner this time, it’s the very gentle and purifying Birch Water Micellar Tonic from Superdrug’s Optimum PhytoHydrate range. It’s alcohol-free and protects skin from drying out. I used it on a cotton wool pad on my face and neck and it felt really refreshing.

Vichy Normaderm

A third toner! You can tell that I was trying hard to use up products rather than buy anything new. Always reliable Vichy makes some of my favourite go-to skincare. This Vichy Normaderm Purifying Pore Tightening Lotion tightens pores without giving skin a tight dry feel. More details here.No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum

No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum This is the serum that Boots launched that really shook up skincare. It was great to use but there have been further releases in the range and I see that this is now out of stock and not to be replaced. Read more about this and the rest of the range here.

LaRochePosay (4)

The La Roche Posay Effaclar Clarifying Toner (yes this really is the 4th toner I’ve used up!) is only available as part of the La Roche-Posay Effaclar ‘3-Step’ Anti-Blemish System  It’s a refreshing lotion that minimises the appearance of pores and freshens up nicely. You can read more about the system here.

Murad Moisturiser (2)

Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture This was in my stash for a while before I picked up from a Caroline Hirons review that she’d used every drop and would repurchase plus she couldn’t find a single thing bad to say about it! Found it intensely moisturising and I loved it. There’s more detail from me here.

Kotoha Anti-Aging Cream

A relatively new brand, KOTOHA was established in 2015.  The products contain naturally active ingredients and oriental herbs which have been used effectively in the far east over centuries. My introduction to the brand came by way of sampling the Ko-To-Ha Shoyaku Herb Essence Anti Aging Cream.

Ingredients include ginseng extract, CoEnzymeQ10, Kukui, pomegranate, hemp, and rose-hip oils. It’s also high in antioxidants and contains Vitamin A and C. I found it was a great all-rounder and very comforting on the skin.

Makeup

eyeshadowprimer (2)

I didn’t start using eyeshadow primer until I’d been blogging a while – my first experience was with Benefit’s Air Patrol and then came Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion followed by this absolute miracle the Urban Decay Anti Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion. It manages to smooth the lid as well as make the perfect base for shadow that lasts and lasts. It really is one of my must-haves!

Benefit Gimme Brow

Much as I chop and change my brow products and shades in search of perfection this is one that I’ve repurchased so I reckon I’m onto a good thing – it’s the Benefit Gimme Brow.

This Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer is a repurchase and I’d buy it again. It makes any mascara look better whether it’s from Benefit or not! I’ve reviewed it previously here.

Urban Decay Mascara

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara is pretty darn perfect especially when paired with its partner in crime Subversion Lash Primer. Read more here.

The Balm Mary Lou Manizer

This isn’t a truly finished product or empty – this is a tragedy! This is my favourite highlighter ever…. and I had to say goodbye to it. The first stage of this disastrous event came about in transit when half of it crumbled in my makeup bag. I struggled bravely for a few more weeks and the remainder of my The Balm Mary Lou Manizer fell onto the bathroom floor. I really am bereft. I have so many more highlighters and some really good ones amongst them but this one is the finest milled perfect highlight and I can’t see any other option than to repurchase! There’s more about it here.

Haircare

Sachjuan Hair Repair

Sachjuan Hair Repair is designed as a weekly intensive treatment for hair. I used it in a totally different way and used it as a serum to smooth flyaways and add shine. Not sure how this happened – I’m not one for reading instructions and it worked!

Liz Earle Limited Edition Shampoo & Conditioner

Gorgeous smelling and from the ever-popular Liz Earle the Limited Edition Botanical Shine Shampoo & Conditioner were a delight to use. More about them here.

So that’s finally your lot! Thank you for sticking with me right to the end. I hope that you’ve found something interesting that you’d like to try. Do ask me questions if you like – you know I love to talk about beauty products!
