Last evening the Strands went to Crabtree & Evelyn in Kingston (on Thames – not Jamaica – that would have been a bit too far a Thursday night after work). What lovely people! – not only were they happy for me to take a plus one to a bloggers event but they were really thrilled to have a mother and daughter attend together. Apparently this is the central theme of their “handy tips” campaign which aims to capture all those pearls of wisdom that Mum’s pass down to their daughters. You can get involved too and all the details of the Handy Tips Competition are here.

We were treated to drinks and nibbles. The cup cakes were only small I promise! Then we had a lovely hand scrub using Pomegranate, Argan & Grapeseed Hand Recovery Scrub and moisturising hand massage using Pomegranate, Argan & Grapeseed Hand Therapy. We had polaroids taken – that’s mine above – which made a lovely memento of the evening.

So what did I think about the brand and the products? I have to admit I was curious to see what the brand had to offer in 2014. I had a perception of a traditional brand that perhaps might be stuck in the past – somewhere you might go to buy a gift for your granny.

Well I can tell you that I was pleasantly surprised – and before you say it I will – I know I’m old enough to be a granny and maybe I’m not the best to judge if a product is modern and relevant but my daughter is. She loved everything, made purchases for herself and selected a gift for someone she knows too. Can’t say too much on that one in case they read it before they get the gift!

Before we left we were treated to a cute goody bag above it contained(left to right):

  • Verbena and Lavender cologne sample
  • C&E Nail Lacquer in Wisteria
  • Somerset Meadow Hand Therapy
  • Somerset Meadow Body Lotion sample

I just couldn’t wait to try out the C&E Nail Lacquer in Wisteria (Below)

I’ll be sure to report  back on how the nail lacquer lasted and I’ll be sure to review the other items in the future.

I really felt that I’d made friends with the staff and managers at the shop – in particular I plan on going back to see Daisy next time I shop for another hand massage.

Thanks Crabtree & Evelyn for such a lovely evening!

Have you shopped in C&E recently? What are your favourite products? Leave me your comments below.
