I was talking to another blogger on twitter the other day and she was asking about ways to save money. She told me that she doesn’t know where her money goes and that got me thinking about how one of things I do is to save money on everyday basics so that I have more to spend on things that I really want. This is where own brand products can really come in handy.
So just recently I’ve been trying out a few products from the B. range which is exclusive to Superdrug. As well as being available on the high street at low prices they are cruelty free and vegan. Today’s review covers B. Pure Micellar Oil and B. Refreshed Essence Lotion.
B. Pure Micellar Oil is an oil to milk cleanser that contains pomegranate oil and chia seed oil to naturally dissolve make-up and deep cleanse your skin. I found it worked well but struggled a bit with the promise of removing waterproof make-up (which it did) and then reading the instruction to avoid contact with the eyes (that’s where my waterproof make-up is).
Instructions are to wet your face and then apply the oil with a cotton pad and remove any excess. I did follow it up with a foam cleanser as I like to double cleanse but it did work well and at only £6.99 for 150ml you can afford to buy a separate eye make up remover.
B. Refreshed Essence Lotion
B. Refreshed is a lightweight, soothing essence lotion. If you’re wondering what an essence lotion is – it’s kind of the contemporary version of a toner and is applied after cleansing and before moisturisation. It replenishes skin for 12 hours using Allantoin which helps to soften, protect and soothe. It contains algae extract to soften and smooth and hyaluronic acid to moisturise. Directions are to pat onto the skin with your hands but I like to use a cotton pad. This is also £6.99 for 150ml.
There is a whole range of skincare products targeted by age range and mak-up too. They’re all well priced so that you can save your money for the odd splurge when you fancy.
What do you do? Do you save money on basics and splurge on treats?

Great post! I like to think I do a bit of both, if I bought high end products all the time it wouldn’t be as special! xx

I’d be interested to try their Essence Lotion as I’m a fan of Korean formulations so it’d be good to compare. They have a really good day moisturiser too which I used to use years ago. I like to splurge on skincare and save on everything else for the most part but it’s worth me revisiting this range.

I’d say it matches up pretty well with DHC (japanese). Definitely worth a try and it’s on offer at the moment.

Really great post! 😀 I actually have recently purchased quite a few B. products after initially trying their Enriched Facial Oil which is just amazing! After using that I have now bought their B. Radiant Day & Night Cream, B. Radiant Antioxidant Boost Facial Oil and the B. Refreshed Essence Lotion. I got them all on Buy One Get One Free, which they still are doing at the moment at Superdrug. I honestly think this range such get more praise than it does. 🙂
As for making savings, I very rarely splurge on high end cosmetics and quite honestly, I won’t pay high end because I can’t justify it when there are many products of equivalent, if not better around at much lower prices. I look to Korean skincare to make my savings. They have amazing products and their prices are way lower. 😀

Thanks for taking the time to write such a comprehensive comment. I have to admit that I do sometimes buy high end for the look and feel knowing that the product isn’t much different to a high street brand.
