New fragrances – The Collection

When I saw that the launch event for The Collection was in the Mandrake Library I began to think that perhaps there would be a twist to this launch. The library houses a collection of arts, photography, fashion, design and literature books curated specially for the hotel, featuring a selection of monographs on artists whose works are represented in the building. These figures include Jonas Burgert, Francesco Clemente, Marius Bercea and Francis Bacon. So not the normal vibe for Yardley’s heritage brand.

Media launch

The Yardley brand has almost 250 years of experience in producing floral fragrances and as I suspected this launch sees it stepping away from its British heritage roots a little. The Collection consists of five fresh floral fragrances that embody the transformative power, beauty and allure of glittering gemstones.

The Collection Fragrances

These are described in terms of personality as:

Rosie Ruby

I tried all of the fragrances during the evening  and found they really did have different personalities. I came home with two of the fragrances so let me tell you a little more about these. The first is Rosy Ruby with an ever popular rose and peony blend combining with pink pepper for a bit of edge.

Top notes: mandarin, pear, peach, cassis.

Heart notes: pink pepper, peony, rose, orange flower water

Base notes: cedar wood, sandal wood, vanilla

Flora Jade

My second treat was Flora Jade. This was actually my favourite of all when I compared them on the night. It’s a crisp green floral that aims to capture the spirit of the jade gemstone.

Top notes: peach, bergamot, galbanum

Heart notes: rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, orris

Base notes: patchouli, sandalwood, moss

I’ve loved being able to add these to my fragrance collection for summer. If you’d like to take a closer look at The Collection it’s available exclusively from Boots stores and on-line at Yardley RRP £25
