It’s at times like this that I realise how little I know about beauty brands. I’ve never set myself up to be a beauty expert – rather a commentator on what I see and experience in the world of make-up and beauty. So when I encountered the Paul & Joe brand (at the Christmas in July event) I found it to be cute, enchanting and a must have all in one go!
Paul & Joe’s fashion collection came first and then these high quality, sophisticated products encased in cutesy limited edition cases using prints from their seasonal lines.
I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on a gorgeous Paul & Joe lipstick from the full pigment collection. The refill and case came separately but they easily slot together to make the most desirable object. Those of you who know the brand will be used to seeing cat prints so this doggie print is a lovely variation. It’s much too beautiful to chuck into my make-up bag but on the other hand I’m not sure that I can bear to leave it at home.
The pigmentation is all that you would expect from a full pigment range. It goes on smoothly and the colour is rich and deep. It’s not totally matte but it’s far from a gloss and it doesn’t have any shimmer. After a cup of tea and a biscuit there was still enough product remaining to show off the gorgeous colour. For me it’s the perfect daytime colour for the office and it’s adaptable enough to wear into the evening too.
I have to admit that I threw away the packaging before noting which shade this is – rookie error – but you’ll be able to buy the new shades from 1 September from ASOS, Selfridges and the like. Refills are £12.50 and Cases £7.00. Delightful!
My other beautiful acquisition is the Paul & Joe Eye Colour Trio 091. The colours are silver,a mauve/grey and black. As a fifty-something I’ve started to steer away from eyeshadows as they can draw attention to any crepiness. But the mauve/grey shade which is has the slightest shimmer to it is a beautiful classic shade for day-time. For a night-time look utilising the sparkly silver and dramatic black would be a dream and the combined contents would make for a stunning smokey-eye effect. The trio palettes cost £23.00 complete with case. (The illustrated one is a refill) And these shades will be available in September too.
Have you fallen in love with any Paul & Joe products? I’d love to hear about them and build on my Paul & Joe experience.
