A little while ago I went to the Dermalogica store at One New Change for a launch event. This was the launch of the new Power Bright TRx range which I wrote about here. The range consists of C-12 Pure Bright Serum, Pure Light SPF 50 and Pure Night. I’ve been trying out these super products since then and I thought it was about time I let you have my thoughts.
They say:
“C-12 Pure Bright Serum is a potent skin brightening treatment. Lightweight, highly active topical treatment combats hyper-pigmentation (brown spots, discoloration and uneven skin tone) day and night. Advanced formula absorbs quickly to optimize efficacy while helping to increase skin luminosity.”
I really haven’t been using serums for that long. I didn’t really get that you use a serum and then a moisturiser on top. I thought it was either or. Now I get that you use the thinner, more potent serum first so that it can have the greatest direct effect on your skin and follow with the thicker moisturising product.
So I used the C-12 Pure Bright Serum day and night. It sank in quite quickly and didn’t feel sticky at all. Whilst I did feel that my skin looked brighter, even after the first couple of days, I couldn’t say that I noticed any difference to pigmentation. To be fair, I would be surprised if I saw an immediate effect and it’s not the easiest thing to measure in any case.
So, on to the Pure Light SPF 50. Well, I guess the clue is in the title, this day cream has a whopping SPF50. Let’s face it we all need to protect our face from sun damage and this definitely does the job in that department.
They say:
“Shield the skin from UV-induced hyper-pigmentation (brown spots, discoloration and uneven skin tone) with this medium-weight daytime treatment. It features Oleosome technology, which uses natural plant spheres filled with sunscreens to increase SPF performance. A powerful peptide helps regulate melanin production while a potent blend of Red and Brown Algae combined with botanical extracts, help balance uneven skin tone. Cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid fortifies the skin’s natural moisture barrier, reducing the appearance of fine dehydration lines. Formulated without artificial fragrances, colours or parabens.”
I found that the Pure Light SPF 50 to be super moisturising as it definitely plumped out the fine lines. I can’t really say much about the sun protection because the weak wintry sun we’ve been having lately in England hasn’t proved to be much of a challenge. I love that it has botanicals and it’s always reassuring to know it doesn’t contain any nasties.
Lastly my favourite of the three products in the range is Pure Night which works as a complete treatment along with the other two products to achieve the same aims of brightness and moisturising. They say:
“Restore skin luminosity and maximize PowerBright TRx™ results with this rich, nighttime moisturizer. It helps reduce the appearance of brown spots and uneven skin tone while you sleep with an active blend of skin-brightening agents.”
This product was the one that wowed me as it made my skin feel AMAZING! Sorry for shouting, but I just had to make you take notice! My skin felt like velvet after the first night I used this. Couldn’t fault it.
So if you’re looking for a treatment that will deal with your uneven skin-tone then this might just be the one!
