Reviews – Benefit They’re Real Mascara & Air Patrol Eye Primer

Unless you’re pretty much a recluse with no access to social media you can’t have avoided the constant high-profile and extremely successful marketing of products from Benefit.

The latest offering saw the uber slick handling of the launch of Benefit Air Patrol Eye Primer. Free samples were offered via social media and the buzz began. As the samples arrived Instagram pages were filled with shots of the coolest packaging and everyone was intrigued to try the product – including me.

Benefit Air Patrol Eye Primer

So what did this tiny tube of wonder have to offer? Benefit Air Patrol Eye Primer has broad-spectrum SPF 20 containing EnviroDefend complex to help guard your eyelids against sun, smoke and pollutants. It also extends the wear of eyeshadow for long-lasting color that won’t crease, fade or smear.

The full size product comes with a CushionCalm™ tip designed to provide an extra gentle way to apply the product but for the sample size I used my finger. Eyelid primers aren’t anything new so I was intrigued to see what it had to offer me. I usually use the same prime on my eyelids as I do on the rest of my face and the only other eyelid primer I’ve used (from an equivalent brand) didn’t smooth my lid and emphasised the crepiness.

The first thing I noticed was that the product was that the product smoothed my eyelid and perfected and evened out the colour nicely and made me feel that I didn’t need to wear eyeshadow at all. Still, as I’d just been gifted two new palettes I was in the mood to try them out.

The eye-shadows went on really smoothly and stayed in place, not gathering in the crease. Lovely! As for the SPF that’s a bonus although I can’t say that it’s a necessity for me as I usually have at least one other product on that has an SPF. I can’t fault the product at all apart from the price. Now Benefit don’t do cheap and I guess that all the cute packaging and the slick marketing have to be paid for but at £21.50 I can’t say I will be rushing to buy it. As I said I only had a sample and not the full size and can’t find out how much product you get for the money so I may be judging too harshly. I’d recommend getting your hands on a sample first before you splurge.

They're Real

The Benefit They’re Real Mascara has been a round a fair while now. When it launched I didn’t try it as I couldn’t immediately see what was so different about it. Also I’m a little stubborn and if I hear too much hype about something it sometimes puts me off. So it wasn’t until recently that I received a sample size in my Catwalk Collection Discovery Box from The Perfume Society and thought it was time to give it a try.

The Benefit They’re Real Mascara is the UK’s no. 1 best-selling mascara. They say it lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts and separates. It’s jet black, long-wearing and won’t smudge or dry out. The specially designed brush is designed to reveal lashes you never knew you had.

What did I think? I can’t disagree with a single claim. This mascara makes my puny lashes look great, it covers every tiny lash and particularly makes my bottom lashes show up nicely.
The price is £19.50 which is pretty spot on for higher end mascara although if I was being really picky (and you know I like to be) I would like prettier packaging.
So overall Benefit get’s a big thumbs up from me. What are your thoughts on the brand? Have you tried these products yet?
