I’ve reviewed Max Factor products a few times before on the blog and I’ve also shared memories about growing up with the brand here. Today I wanted to update you on some new additions to the range.
First up it’s the Marilyn Monroe lipstick collection. Last year Max Factor signed Marilyn Monroe to the brand as the Glamour Ambassador and launched #GlamJan – a campaign to inspire women to wear a slick of red lipstick and glam-up in January.
Yep, I know – I’m a bit late for this year’s glam Jan. More like fabulous Feb I reckon but I do have an excuse. You see, what happened was I heard about the launch of Marilyn Monroe red lipsticks with 4 shades, each tailored to different skin tones including Marilyn’s original shade, Ruby Red.
Here they all are – all four … erm ….well…. three of them. That’s the problem I was faced with. Unfortunately, and even after trying several times over a couple of weeks I only received 3 out of the 4 shades which are:
Ruby Red: Marilyn’s iconic lip look (this is the one that has evaded me)
Berry Red: for cool tones
Sunset Red: for warm tones
Cabernet Red: for dark tones
The Marilyn shades are produced in the Colour Elixir Lipstick formula which includes shea, avocado and aloe butters and anti-oxidant white tea. The formula actively improves lip moisture to achieve a smoother surface in just a week. The colour is highly pigmented and gives a true glam look.
It’s often hard to choose a red that’s right for you but the key (they say) is to find one that suits your skin tone and I’ve been using Berry Red (that’s the one on the right in the photo). I’d say that this is more strawberry than the deeper red that’s usually associated with berry coloured lipstick. It’s one of those things I find with red lipstick though and that’s if you wear it you feel confident – but sometimes you need to feel confident before you can wear it. Still perhaps we should all think more like Marilyn and think Glam! They cost £7.99 here.
Then completely separately I was sent this False Lash Effect Mascara – again this is intended to give a glam iconic look inspired by Marilyn Monroe.
This mascara is designed for volume and wraps each lash for a false lash effect. It has Max Factor’s biggest ever brush with 50% more bristles to double lash size appearance compared to bare lashes and it doesn’t flake or smudge. The brush is a little chunky for my tiny lashes but it’s manageable and it costs £10.99 here.
So, I think if you feel glam in Jan, fabulous in Feb, or Magnificent in March these might be just the help you need!
Do you love Max Factor? Tell me why in the comments.

Berry red is something I would buy (I’m more into pink than red)
MF lipsticks from this line are really nice & creamy & they look good on lips (my fav is Bewitching Coral)

Yes the formula feels good I’ll have to take a look at other colours in the range.
