It’s getting to that time when the clocks go forward to British Summer Time and you want to get that summer look and yet the sun is nowhere to be seen and your skin looks duller than a foggy day in London. And so it’s right about now that I reach for my favourite bronzer/highlighter palette.
Now I’ve always been an admirer of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick but it’s no use having a champagne taste on a prosecco salary is it? So that’s off the shopping list and on the wish list for now.
Then, last year I was loving my Collection Gorgeous Glow palette it helped me make the most of my Marrakech tan but then oh! the heartbreak when it smashed onto the tiled floor in my bathroom.
Since then I’ve been using a combination of products but none of them have filled the gap in my makeup bag properly. Then just recently I learned that Makeup Revolution had launched their Vivid Shimmer Bricks and with a Love to Shop voucher in my hand I went off to the Superdrug store to get one. Sadly there wasn’t one to be found on the shelf though I might have been a bit too keen as I think they’re only available online direct from Makeup Revolution right now.
Next stop on the quest to find an affordable substitute was Boots where I finally managed to find the Revlon highlighting palettes and chose the shade Peach Glow (apparently a shade only available in the UK).
It’s brightened up my complexion, and I’ve used it as a bronzer really for now, while I don’t have a tan, and then added a lighter-toned highlighter on my cheekbones.
It’s a little more expensive than the Makeup Revolution and Collection products at £9.99 but less than a third of the price of the Bobbi Brown product.
I think they are all gorgeous products to make you shimmer this summer with or without the sun. It’s your choice! Which would you choose?
