When I first met Jamie Rockers I heard a bit about her travels – she’s from the US (Kansas I think) and she told me that she’d lived for some time in Japan. As I got to know her and read her fabulous blog, it became clear that she knows an awful lot about beauty and travel, not to mention fashion, food and lifestyle! So when I heard she’d launched a beauty box combining her love for beauty and travel I just knew that it would be special and I wasn’t disappointed.
Each month, subscribers receive 5-6 full and sample-size beauty products that are new and trending in that month’s featured country or city. Jamie made the box really personal to her and includes cards that explain all about the products as well as how to use them and get the look! Subscribers can choose either to pay $25 per month or a 6 month prepaid plan and product value is $65! I sampled the first Japanese themed box Tokyo Loves.
The first two products from the box were from a Japanese brand I’m already hooked on. The DHC Perfect Pro Double Wear Mascara has water resistant tube technology which means removing it is simple using warm water. The DHC Perfect Pro Liquid Eyeliner is the best there is. Bloggers and makeup artists swear by it!
From Shisheido a brand I know of but have never used its the Senka Perfect Whip Face Wash Foam. I love a foam wash as the second part of my cleansing routine – and the info on in the box tells me that Japanese women do too and that this is Japan’s best seller! It uses white silkworm cocoon protein for superior cleansing and hydration. Now I always struggle to get anything to foam with London’s hard water and this was no different. If you have hard water then I’d recommend that you get hold of the DHC foaming mesh. Jamie’s info in the box covers this too with a gift with purchase freebie using a link provided.
This cute Honey Plump lip gloss is from Shisheido’s sister brand Majolica Majorca. Apparently hard to find outside of Asia this is the kind of thing that makes this subscription box special. And of course who doesn’t love a bit of lip plumping too.
Play thing or instrument of torture? I had to check the box insert for this one! This Kokubo Face Lifting Roller is used in Shiatsu ( pressure point massage) – use it on your face for a relaxing feel and lifted look.
The last treat in the box is the Yumeguri Hot Spring Bath Powder. Japanese folk apparently love hot springs and this powder promises to turn your bath into a hot spring. I’m a little sad that I won’t be able to try this out personally as I have a shower but I’ll be gifting it to a friend as a treat.
From what I’ve seen and heard of beauty boxes (this was my first ever – can you believe it?) this stands out as being great value and with some awesome full size products included. Jamie’s second box Seoul Sister (Korean goodies) has already shipped but get yourself lined up for box number 3. I don’t know if I’m officially supposed to tell you which part of the world it’s from – but it’s the home of my favourite pharmacy brands and I can promise you won’t be disappointed.
Here‘s where to subscribe – and if you want to find out more about the woman behind the beauty box you can read more here.
Do you subscribe to any beauty boxes? If so which do you like best? Do any of them have treats from around the world? Do share!
