So, this week I started on a walking programme. It’s all about walking more as part of your day to increase your fitness. Yesterday was the first day of the programme and as it was a sunny day I thought I’d take a walk in my lunch break. I just needed a purpose……..it didn’t take long for me to decide that I just had to spend my Boots points and that the Victoria branch would make the perfect destination for my walk.
Now on the way to Boots there is also House of Fraser and as they clearly had several beauty promotions it would clearly have been rude not to pay a visit. As I entered I was offered a spray and then a sample of Signorina Elegance Eau de Parfum by Salvatore Ferragamo £37.80 – £54.00. So I was able to pass through the beauty hall without spending any money and still satisfy my beauty shopping craving.
They say “With top notes of grapefruit and pear are a vivacious and stimulating introduction. Mid notes of Almond powder and golden osmanthus petals create a delicate yet intense heart, adding a touch of indulgent luxury. Finished off with patchouli and white leather create a dry-down effect that leaves a luscious, lingering scent on the skin.”
So clutching my sample I advanced down Victoria Street to Boots. I had a few pounds in points to spend and planned on also making use of the 3 for 2 offer so I headed to the nail polish displays to choose 3 spring like colours to try out over the weekend. So what did I choose?
Max Factor Max Effect Nail Polish Mellow Yellow 29 £3.99
This is the cutest spring like pale yellow and I couldn’t wait to try it. Sadly, despite using base and top coat from OPI I couldn’t put this on without it looking streaky. I don’t think that is a fault with the product – I think I’m just rubbish at painting my nails.
L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Nails in Sky Fits Heaven 611 £4.99
I haven’t tried this one yet. They say:
“This Color Riche Nails varnish from L’Oreal Paris boasts an innovative new formula to give your nails a salon perfect finish like never before. This gel based colour contains a built in top coat with LiquiGel Technology to keep your colour lasting longer.
With a super easy application and giving even coverage, the ingenious flat brush technology works to hold the formula and spread it effortlessly on to the nail to deliver intense colour and shine.
If what they say is true this one should be a breeze to use!
Maybelline New York Color Shoe Nail Lacquer – 342 Coral Craze £2.99
This is the one I’m planning to try for work on Monday so I’ve not tried it yet. They say:
“This Color Show Nail Lacquer from Maybelline New York is created with an innovative chip resistant formula that works to keep your colour on for longer. Available in a range of show stopping hues, this nail lacquer features an easy flow brush for precise application and is completely Formaldehyde, DBP and Toluene free. “
I’m hoping that the chip resistant formula works, as time spent at the keyboard can do some damage!
So I need to finish of the story of my visit to Boots. When I got to the till I found that I couldn’t have 3 for 2 and use my points. So I went for the 3 for 2. Trouble is not only do I still need to spend my points but they gave me two more vouchers to spend! Now where shall I go for my lunch time walk on Monday???
