Mother’s Day Fragrance Picks

Mother's Day Picks
It’s that time of year when we all think about our Mums. I’m lucky to have my daughter living with me and so it’s not just on Mother’s Day that she gets to show me how she feels about me.
Anyway, you probably don’t need to know about my domestic arrangements but as a Mum, I think that one of the nicest ways to feel good about yourself is to know that you smell good and there are certain fragrances that can transport you to another place!
I’ve been taking a look recently at some gorgeous fragrances that are available and thought you might like to know what I think about them, and it might help you to choose that special gift for your Mum!
If you’ve been reading my blog and Tweets over the last few days you’ll know that I’ve been planning a holiday and so I’m attracted to everything that reminds me of summer holidays, beaches and azure seas. So my first pick is the Elie Saab Resort Collection
Elie Saab Resort Collection
They say:
“The stunning Resort Collection is a French Riviera-inspired limited edition. It is a floral, solar, fruity eau de toilette, with keynotes of orange flower, jasmine, frangipani flower and fig. The gorgeous azure blue bottle is eye-catching and evocative of the Mediterranean Sea. “
The trip I’m planning is to Marrakech so not by the sea but still, I think that this summary vanilla sunshine fragrance is just all I want my holiday to be in a bottle! I’m wearing it today and it makes me feel like stretching out in the sun! Shame the wintry London sun just isn’t warm enough yet! If you want to buy your Mum sun in a bottle then it’s costs £39.95 here.
Next up is the Issey Miyake City Blossom Limited Edition. You’ve probably read my write up of the launch event here.
City Blossom 1
They say:
“A feminine, floral, woody fragrance by master perfumer Alberto Morillas. City Blossom opens like a fresh bud with sparkling notes of pink pepper and bright lemon, a heart of magnolia and freesia and dry down of subtle musk and woody notes.”
I’ve been wearing it as day time, wear to work fragrance. If your Mum is a chic and feminine city type I’d say she’ll love this. It’s available here for £51.00.
Next is a new version of a classic it’s Cartier La Panthère EDP Légère. You may have read about my experience with the gorgeous classic version here. Well, this version is exclusive to Harrods until 9 March before it’s available nationwide. I don’t have a picture of this version yet but it’s quite similar to the original with a stunning glass bottle with a panther’s head.
Cartier La Panthere
They say:
“A radiant feline-floral fragrance, Légère is a more luminous and lighter version of the original Eau de Parfum. It contains a musk-gardenia accord warmed by the sun thanks to the addition of tiara flower. It’s priced at £67 here.
And…..I’m back to dreaming about blue waters and summer with Van Cleef & Arpels Aqua Oriens Limited Edition.
Aqua Oriens
They say:
“Back by popular demand, the juice remains the same as last year. An exquisite fruity floral fragrance with notes of pear, honeysuckle and amber, and inspired by the jewellery of the house.”
As well as being a divine summery fragrance that makes me feel so special this bottle fits in so well with my love for aesthetically pleasing products,. It’s just so pretty I want to show it to all my friends. Glorious! If you want to make your Mum feel special I’m sure that this won’t disappoint. It’s £54.00 here.
Oddly I’ve saved First for last. It’s Van Cleef and Arpels First. I’ve reviewed the Limited First Edition D’Or previously and it looks and smells amazing!
VCA First 6
They say:
“First is a luxurious and sophisticated fragrance. Shrouded in mystery, it conveys a feeling of exclusiveness that is forever Van Cleef & Arpels. The fragrance opens with a sparkling sensation of fruity notes and aldehydes. This develops into a warm sensual floral scent. The base is woody yet sweet. Amber gives the fragrance warmth and an exceptional  staying power.”
This definitely smells sophisticated and something I’d wear for a special evening out. It also fits my ” it has to look good on the dressing table” criteria. If you want to buy then here is where to get it for a bargain price of £21.30 (usually £48!).
I hope that you feel inspired by these gorgeous fragrances either to buy for your Mum or to put on your wish list for Mother’s Day if you’re a mum yourself.
