You know when you’ve seen someone around your office, they’ve worked there for years and you’ve never really spoken to them because you think you know what they’re about? Well, that’s kind of what happened with me and Mary Kay. I’d never tried it, didn’t come across it very often and thought it wouldn’t be for me. Well, things have changed. Let me tell you a little about what I’ve found out about Mary Kay.
The story
The business model
The products
Ok. So this is the most important thing for me. Behind the pizzazz and the branding I’m all about the products. Do I like how they look, feel and wear? These are some of the products that I got my hands on recently and my first thoughts.
Left to right:
- New TimeWise Repair Revealing Radiance Facial Peel £38
- Limited-Edition Mary Kay Runway Bold Eye Colour Palette £16
- Limited-Edition Mary Kay Runway Bold Nail Lacquer in shades Blue Debut and Rosy Encore £9 each
- Mary Kay Gel Semi-Matte Lipstick in shade Bashful You £13
- Limited-Edition Mary Kay Runway Bold Gel Liner Duo in shad Dramatic Gold £14
The TimeWise Repair Revealing Radiance Facial Peel uses the power of glycolic acid, your skin’s own natural renewal process is enhanced and younger-looking, more radiant skin is revealed.
Key ingredients:
- Glycolic Acid – A highly effective exfoliant and the most widely recognized and safest alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA).
- Marine Extract – to negate and potential for dryness after using a peel marine extract has hydrating benefits.
I’ve not tried this out yet so you’ll need to look out for a review here on the blog soon.
The Limited-Edition Mary Kay Runway Bold Eye Colour Palette is inspired by modern metallics for a dramatic bold eye look. It’s got a rich intense colour payoff that has a luxurious finish. I’ve been saving this one to wear to an awards ceremony tonight and I’ll be going for glamour and sparkle. Hoping for some compliments and I’ll be reporting back!
Limited-Edition Mary Kay Runway Bold Nail Lacquer in shades Blue Debut and Rosy Encore These latest runway-inspired nail shades definitely make a statement. The rose gold shade is bound to be every blogger’s favourite and the Blue Debut has chic look for work or play. I love that they go on so easily and that you can cheat if time is short (or you’re lazy like me) and splash on one coat for full coverage. I’m planning on wearing the Rosy Encore tonight with my gold shadow as I’m hoping it will complement my berry velvet dress. If you guys see me and I’m not the vision that I’m imagining please don’t break the spell!
The Mary Kay Gel Semi-Matte Lipstick in shade Bashful You is the perfect nude shade in the most flattering of formulas. With the trend for matte shades, we’ve all experienced them being drying on the lips. This gel formula semi-matte shade gives lasting colour clarity and gel comfort with a soft-focus effect. I’ve loved wearing it to the office and also think it will be the perfect contrast to a full-on eye look.
This cleverly designed Limited-Edition Mary Kay Runway Bold Gel Liner Duo is designed to give a hint of gold or bronze along the lashline. It glides on so smoothly and the gold shade gives a foil effect and so I’ve been tempted to use it on the whole lid for an ultra-glam look for the evening. It dries quickly and it won’t budge without a good cleanser so it should last the whole night.
So I hope you’ll see from this snapshot of products that this is a great on-trend brand with quality products. You don’t need to buy them from a consultant, although they’ll give you a whole load of ideas and experience. You can buy online or connect with a consultant here – and if you want to get involved in the business yourself you’ll find details there too. Hope you get to know Mary Kay too very soon.
