So, I’m back again with my empties. July was hot hot hot! so makeup was sliding off my face and I resorted to using very little. I can’t go without the basics when I’m outside my own home though so brows, lashes and lips have still been covered along with the usual skin care. I’ve really been looking forward to some more temperate weather so that I can revert to wearing the full whack! Also, nothing to do with beauty but it wasn’t until the rain came today that I realised that I couldn’t remember the last time I’d had to open my sock drawer or when I last wore jeans. Anyway, that’s enough rambling. Here’s what I used up in July.
Kat Von D Signature Brow in Taupe
I would definitely repurchase this beauty. It’s just such a perfect shade for me. I’m just feeling the need to be prudent and use up some of my other brow products first. I’ve reviewed it in full here. And it’s available here
B. Strong Night Cream
This B. Strong Night cream was part of Superdrug’s dedicated skin care for women over 60. The B skincare collection started off with a four-phase range that included skincare for the 50+ age range and this was part of the phase 5 B. Strong range. Searching the site to give you a link to this particular product the range seems to be off the radar. So not sure if it will make a comeback. I reviewed it previously here. You can find the rest of the effective and purse friendly B. skincare collection here.
L’Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo
No photo but I figured that this is worth a mention anyway. Over the years I’ve struggled to understand the difference between making hair look thick (as in full but fluffy/frizzy) and thick (as in luxurious, shiny, full of body). I think it’s fair to say that brands weren’t always clear either. More recently, I’ve found that it’s safe to move away from only using products that smooth hair for a sleek look. This high street product picked up in a supermarket really met my needs for a couple of pounds. you can find it on offer here.
Sanctuary Spa Green Lemon & Orange Blossom Body Wash
This Sanctuary Spa Green Lemon & Orange Blossom Body Wash came as part of a gorgeous gift set from a dear friend. It’s luxurious and refreshing with a glorious mix of orange fruit water, lemon oil and jojoba. You can buy it alone for £6 here.
Emma Hardie Midas Touch Face Serum
Now when I call this an empty – I mean I’ve finished one of the two 15ml dispensers of the glorious Emma Hardie Midas Touch Face Serum that come in the box and I think that qualifies it for inclusion in this post. I’ve been trialling it alongside the new Emma Hardie Midas Touch Revitalising Eye Serum and I’m planning on writing a post soon about using them both together so I want to save the detail until then. For now I just want to say that I wish I had found this product sooner.
It’s down as an “anti-ageing” serum (I’ve put the phrase in inverted commas because I think it’s overused and isn’t a great descriptor) that gives instant hydration and aims to give you smoother younger looking skin. It’s formulated with edelweiss miristem cell culture, avocado peptides, hyaluronic acid, glycoprotein and extract of vivillume (from wild banana seed). All of this with the cherry on the top that is extract of mica to create a soft-focus glow that minimises imperfections and that means I’ve had some pretty decent comments about my skin recently.
So that’s your lot for this month! Hope you’ve found something that interests you. Do tell me what you’ve been loving using this month.
