Empties – August & September 2018

During this transitional time as the seasons are changing, I’ve found myself reaching for different products to manage my skin and hair and also to change up my look from light and bright to richer and warmer.

For those of you who like to know what I’ve been using up and finishing off here are my August and September Empties.

Haircare

Bedhead by TIGI Urban Antidotes Resurrection

I’m hopeless at using regular treatments whether that be for my skin or hair. So I’ve adapted using this Bedhead by TIGI Urban Antidotes Resurrection treatment mask and use it as a regular conditioner and leave it on for around a minute at a time. It strengthens, repairs, and softens to mitigate the damaging effects of heat and chemicals.

Makeup

Christian Dior Diorshow Pump & Volume Mascara

Dior Pump & Volume Mascara

Dior mascaras never fail me and I sometimes wonder why I fall into the trap of trying out other brands and then wonder why I’m disappointed. Or even sometimes believing the hype around a new brand/product and believing it’s better and then only remembering how great Dior is when that new product runs out. This Diorshow Pump ‘N’ Volume is a newish addition to the Dior range that gives extra volume. It’s presented in a flexible tube that you squeeze to soften the formula ahead of loading your brush. Available here it isn’t cheap – but it’s worth the splurge in my book.

Urban Decay Trouble Maker Mascara

Oh, Urban Decay – I’m not really sure what happened here – I really wanted to like this UD Troublemaker Mascara. I’ve loved every other lash product they’ve made and this one, boasting “super-fat, super-long, sex-proof lashes” made everyone stop and stare – it even had a new brush design. Then I applied it – I tried it out more than once – because I couldn’t believe what I was experiencing and thought I must be doing something wrong but nope – all I got was my normal short stubby lashes coloured black – not longer or fatter or anything really. Did I get a duff product – or was this just not for me? Anyway, after trying this out now and then over a good few months the product has dried up and so whilst not really finished or empty I felt I should include it here – I just wanted an opportunity to share my thoughts on this so that you know I do flag up things that aren’t so good and don’t just praise everything I’m asked to review. It’s available here including in travel size if you want to test it out before fully committing to it.

Nails

OPI Nail Polish in Black Cherry Chutney

OPI Black Cherry Chutney

This OPI Nail Polish in Black Cherry Chutney has been such a staple of my collection that I’m really sorry to see it go in the bin. It’s a rich dark black-red shade that’s perfect for autumn. It’s pictured above on the far right and available here.

CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat

CND Vinylux Weekly Polish Nudes

This CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat is a game-changer. I’ve loved using it over beautiful shades from CND like the two nude shades above but amazingly you can use this topcoat over other nail polish brands and it significantly extends their wear. Using both Weekly Polish and Weekly Top Coat from CND Vinylux my polish lasts from 5 -7 days and this just blows me away every time. Fortunately, I have a backup bottle and so I’ve not had to suffer any downtime without this beauty. It’s available here and from salons.

Skincare

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet

This Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet was a key part of my summer moisturising routine. I made sure I kept my skin plumped up from the inside by drinking plenty of water and from the outside with this super moisturising Sorbet. It’s available here and I’d recommend using it along with the serum.

Emma Hardie Midas Touch Face Serum

Emma Hardie Midas Touch Face SErum

I’ve now finished the second of the two vials of Emma Hardie Midas Touch Serum. As you’ll have read in my review here I loved it and got great results using it alongside the eye serum (which is still going). Here’s where to find it.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Complex

Last on the list is this travel size Estee Lauder Night Repair Eye Complex. It was part of my goodie bag from the Dave Lackie dinner in London earlier this year (as was the Dior Mascara mentioned above). This is a nourishing, skin-strengthening formula that reduces the appearance of lines, puffiness, and dark circles and provides nourishment for 24 hours with hyaluronic acid. It’s available here and the 15ml size will last you a good while.

And that’s it for another month at least. I hope that you’ve found something interesting here this time around.
