For the past few weeks I’ve been trialling the Skin Perfect Primer and the Overnight Repair Serum from the Dermalogica Skin Perfecting Set. You might have seen that I featured it in my Christmas Gift Guide and it’s still in stock for the great price of £67.60 (bought individually they’d cost over £97!) if you need a last minute present!
They’re designed to compliment each other perfectly to smooth and minimise the appearance of ageing but as they’re available all year round separately I thought I’d tell you what I think about them – it says a lot that I’m still using them and in fact I’ve almost run out!
When I first got the Skin Perfect Primer I was told that it was perfect to wear on its own. I was more than sceptical – how many times do you hear that a primer or tinted moisturiser can be worn alone and then you take one look in the mirror and recoil in horror! Still, I applied the primer one day when I wasn’t heading to the shops and it really looked ok – I mean it didn’t look like full coverage makeup but it does give some coverage and its ingredients gave my skin a luminosity that I hadn’t expected. Later in the day I touched my face, forgetting that I’d applied anything new and I was really surprised that my skin felt really velvety. Winner! Still as you might suspect on a daily basis I choose to use the primer – well as a primer! And what I’ve found is that I don’t need to apply so much foundation and my skin looks great.
Ingredients include velvety silicons to instantly smooth the skin’s surface; pearl powder and natural earth minerals to provide a neutral tint to balance tone and enhance luminosity; and peptides and AGE Smart® actives help firm and protect against free radical damage. It’s also got SPF 30 to shield against sun damage.
The Overnight Repair Serum is designed to maximise skin repair while you sleep to minimise fine lines and increase luminosity. There’s that word again – that’s why the two products are such a perfect pairing. You can either apply it directly to your skin after cleansing or you can mix it with your moisturiser. I tend to apply products separately but I’m sure either way is fine.
The serum is supercharged with peptides to help stimulate collagen production for firmness and resilience. Argan and rose oils revitalise the skin and help to smooth fine lines. I’ve found that my skin really drinks in the moisture and in the morning I’m all ready to apply the primer again!
- There are all kinds of gift sets from Dermalogica for different skin types and age ranges so do find out what’s best for you and I’m sure that you won’t be disappointed.
