I started off this morning thinking that it might be a good idea to try out my new La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL BB Cream as it’s the weekend and I could get away with a bare faced look as I won’t be in the office. Then I got to thinking maybe I could try out one or two other new products and see if I could make a summer look that might be a winner for my holiday. I even left my hair natural to see how the whole just out of the pool, minimal look might work. So this is how it turned out. I forgot my moisturiser and my mascara but surprisingly I quite liked how it turned out and I think my skin looked pretty good too. And that meant that I was brave enough to post the look on Instagram.
Here’s the product list, I’ve provided reviews below of the products that I haven’t reviewed previously*:
- Trilogy CoQ10 Eye Recovery Concentrate*
- Arnaud Hydra Absolute Re-plumping Serum
- DHC Velvet Skin Coat
- La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Tinted BB Cream*

- Bourjois Healthy Mix Correcting Concealer 51
- Sleek Highlighting Palette Precious Metals*
- Estee Lauder Pure Colour Blush 10 Lover’s Blush*
- Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lip Gloss 27 Pink Kiss*
So here are the reviews. I hadn’t realised how many products I use that haven’t been reviewed. There are a few so I’ll keep it brief but if you have any questions then ask them in the comments section below!
Trilogy CoQ10 Eye Recovery Concentrate
I’ve found this to be such a refreshing, calming and cooling product. It’s a great start to the day and to feeling and looking awake.
They say:
“Refreshing roll-on to tone and brighten the eye area with co-enzyme Q10, caffeine and horse chestnut. A cooling, silky smooth serum which helps increase firmness and reduce periocular fine lines around the delicate eye area. A handbag essential, this certified natural, fragrance-free formula can be applied to cleansed skin before moisturising or over make-up as a quick pick-me-up for tired eyes.”
La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Tinted BB Cream
This is the product that I was planning to write the whole post about. It’s been developed for sensitive skin and it has SPF50. I often find that BB creams don’t give enough coverage or colour for me and so I was pleasantly surprised by the coverage which I would say is equivalent to a light coverage foundation. When I saw the dewy look that it gave my skin it gave me confidence enough to take a photo and that’s something I’ve always tried to avoid since I was very small. As well as providing protection (which I can’t test yet) and providing great coverage it also makes my feel moisturised and soft too.
They say:
“UVA protection from the patented photostable filtering system Mexoplex. Very water-resistant. Non perfumed. No parabens. Rich but non-oily, the texture protects, moisturises and unifies the complexion in a single step.”
Collection Work the Colour Eyebrow Kit
I’ve had this kit for ages and hadn’t really got the hang of it, preferring to use pencils but recently I’ve worked out how to blend the colours to suit my colouring and it’s become an everyday staple. The clear brow mascara keeps it all in place all day.
GOSH Eyelight Trio 003 Chunky Chocolate
These cute palettes by GOSH are fun and easily transportable. The one on the left is GOSH Eyelight Trio 003 Chunky Chocolate. I used the top colour which is a metallic gold all over the lid and then the middle mid brown colour in the crease. They’re quite pigmented and buttery and there isn’t too much fall out.
Sleek Highlighting Palette Precious Metals
I’m so surprised that I haven’t reviewed this before. I had seen it on the shelves and read the reviews from other bloggers and loved it from the moment I held it in my hands. The case is as shiny and metallic as the 4 beautiful highlighters inside, (3 creamy and one powder). I use just a touch along the top of my cheek bone.
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Blush 10 Lover’s Blush
Estee Lauder products were my first real make-up love. The version of the Estee Lauder Pure Colour Blush 10 Lover’s Blush that I have is part of a limited edition palette that was a collaboration with Michael Kors. It’s a bit old and worn now which is why there’s no picture but it can be purchased on it’s own as in the photo above. There’s nothing to say apart from it’s Estee Lauder and it gives the colour and pay off that you would expect. Gorgeous.
They say:
“Estee Lauder Pure Color Blush. Bring your cheeks into full bloom. Fresh, radiant colour lasts all day, won`t streak or fade. Includes exclusive True Vision; technology. Ultra-silky powder sweeps on sheer for a natural glow. Builds for contoured and sculpted definition with luminous optic technology. Exclusive contouring brush included. In two finishes, Satin and Shimmer.”
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lip Gloss 27 Pink Kiss
So this is the finishing slick of gloss it’s another Estee Lauder classic and it was part of a gift with product. It’s a moisturising pretty feminine perfection. It finished off my “bare-faced” look perfectly.
It took 11 products to look “natural” and I forgot to use two more. Ah well. It was fun!

You look lovely! Definitely a great holiday look. I really like the sound of that BB cream – definitely going to invest in one of those for the summer. I love it when they have high SPF as well! x
